Stretching Your Stamps + a Mini Challenge!

Hi everyone, Sally here. Oh how I love to create things with “shape” stamps! I created this first card using the paint splotches and circles from the Graffiti woodblock set.  After I added the simple script message from Enjoy Today, I thought it might be fun to challenge myself to create an entire set of cards using only these stamps!

Find out how to make this card — click for complete supplies and instructions.

How many fun ideas could I come up with just by combining the brush strokes and circles from Graffiti with the sentiments from Enjoy Today? Hmm…

I got to work. First up, I created a brush stroke background by simply overlapping to make a woven look. Next I used the brush stroke as a flower petal and a circle for the center. But my favorite was making the palm trees! I kept the first palm tree card simple. I used the “bar” for the trunk and brush stroke for the fronds. I inked the edge of the bar to make the darker lines on the palm. For the second palm tree card I got even more creative, using the brush stroke for the mountains and the small arrow for tiny palms. Yes, I played with my stamps, and it was fun!

So, are you up for a challenge? Take this set or some other Hero Arts set and see what you can do! Post your creations on the Hero Arts Flickr Group using the tag SALLYSCHALLENGE, and the winner will win a box of Hero Arts stamps from my stash! I will give you until June 30th. Challenge yourself! You’d be surprised what you can come up with!!

Your cute cards make me think I better go and take another look at some of my stamps and see what else is there. This is a very clever idea that would certainly help us create more uses from our existing stamps. It would be a fun challenge as well!

Thank you for this! I have that set, didn’t pay attention to the size before ordering, and was wondering what I was going to do with it.
